September was a strong month for Memphis-area home sales, according to data from the Memphis Area Association of Realtors. Sales for the month rose 17.8 percent from a year ago — from 1,317 total sales last September up to 1,552 this September. The average sales price for September was $158,000, which is up 9.6 percent from last September. Inventory since last September decreased 0.9 percent, with 6,710 units listed for sale. Total home sales for 2014 is still down, to 11,852 — down 5.6 percent from 2013’s figure of 12,552.
“Sales and pricing were up from a year ago, and we’re again on the plus side in year-to-date sales volume”, said MAAR President Greg Glasson which provides a solid uptick in business for the moving and storage industry in the Memphis Metroplex.
