Back in early 2009, William reached out to me for some school supplies to support the kids near his FOB (Forward Operating Base) located close to the Afghanistan/Pakistan border. At the time, our program, Operation International Children was still active. As we approached Thanksgiving of that year, I surprised him by letting him know I was going to visit his AOO (Area of Operations) and personally help distribute the supplies with him. Once he retired from the Army, he started HEMEFund Worldwide to help Afghan women and children, and I have tried to help here and there. As he’s based in #Korea, I wanted to take the opportunity to see him again and meet some of his team.
